Zoey Greene, a 10-year-old student at Dry Creek Elementary School was named the Grand Prize Winner of the 2023 North Olympic Discovery Marathon Kids Medal Design Contest.

Runner-up winners include: Evelyn Brock, 9, Dry Creek Elementary; Josephine Myers, 8, Rosevelt Elementary; Raynee Ciarlo, 11, Franklin Elementary; Dennis Tisdale, 7, Queen of Angeles; and, Eamon Myers, 5, Montessori School.

All contest winners receive an entry into the Kids Marathon event — set for 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Port Angeles City Pier — along with a special certificate and a thank you goodie bag.

The YMCA Youth & Government – Olympic Peninsula Delegation selected the grand prize winner and the runner-ups in this seventh-annual contest. There were 85 medal design entries for this year’s medal, contest organizers noted. The Kids Marathon medal is presented to all kids who cross the finish line at the fun run event in June.

Greene will work with Victoria Jones, the North Olympic Discovery Marathon’s race director, and the medal design team at Ashworth Awards to fine tune, approve, and finalize the medal.
