Milestone: Monday Musicale selects 2023 scholarship winners

Monday Musicale members announced the group’s 2023 scholarship winners in early June.

They include: vocalist Danika Chen, first place, recipient of a $3,500 scholarship; a tie for second place between vocalists Abigail Sanford and Rayna Mathison, who receive $2,500 each; and, honorable mention trumpet player Brock Tejada, who receives a $500 scholarship.

Adjudicators for the scholarship were: Jonathan Pasternack, director/conductor of the Port Angeles Symphony; Vicky Helwick, a vocalist and music teacher, and Phil Morgan-Ellis, conductor/director of the Sequim Community Orchestra.

Hear some of the winners at the Monday Musicale monthly meeting set for noon on June 19 at the Queen of Angels Fellowship Hall, 290 W. 11th St., Port Angeles.
