Save a date on the calendar for the sixth-annual Dogtoberfest, a fundraiser for the nonprofit Welfare for Animals Guild (WAG).
The event is set for 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Guy Cole Events Center, 202 N.Blake Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m.
“We are all very excited about this year’s event,” said Deb Bemm, WAG vice president and Dogtoberfest chair.
“We have so many beautiful silent auction baskets, dinner by Tedesco’s Italian Fresh, and a photo booth for an added measure of pleasure.”
Tickets are on sale now at wagsequimwa.com, or by postal mail (WAG, P.O. Box 3966, Sequim, WA 98382).
Tickets are $75 each or $700 for a table of eight, with 2 bottles of wine included.
Tickets are limited to a total of 160 participants.
The event sold out by late September last year, so those interested are urged to purchase while tickets are still available; they will not be available at the door.
The website will post the date ticket sales will close.
“We all look forward to a night of celebration,” WAG president Barb Brabant said.
“We get to showcase our mission of rescue and share stories of our dogs who have survived unbelievable challenges as they came to Halfway Home Ranch to start their journey to a new life and new adoptive homes.
“This year’s focus is on the senior dogs who have lost their lifelong friend or because the care and cost can’t be managed properly anymore. ”
The Welfare for Animals Guild was founded in 2001, and over the years the organization has grown to include 60-80 active volunteers who work with the dogs at the Halfway Home Ranch and assist in maintaining the grounds and gardens that were once the McComb Nursery.
“None of this would be possible without the support of our community,” ranch manager Mel Marshall said.
“From the wonderful volunteers to the generous donors whose donations provide food, vet care, and upkeep of the Ranch, we are blessed and humbly grateful.”
