The food bank leads drive-through events once again for the holidays with the first event slated for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17 in the park.

The Sequim Food Bank’s Family Holiday Meal Bag Distribution program is scheduled for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Carrie Blake Community Park, 202 N. Blake Ave.

This is a drive-thru event with anyone welcome to pick up fixings for a holiday meal.

Sign-in begins at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., before going along Blake Avenue and by Carrie Blake Community Park’s Water Reuse Demonstration Site and Albert Haller Playfields. A second event is slated for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15.

Organizers plan for about 100 volunteers to distribute upwards of 1,000 meal boxes. Attendees will also receive gift cards to purchase turkey/ham and/or other food needed for Thanksgiving. Andra Smith, Sequim Food Bank executive director, said demand is up 22% over last year at the food bank, and need has increased in every program.
