Low-tide day sees Sequim sun lovers out on the bay

Sequim sun seekers went to John Wayne Marina to take in the early season sunlight with an expanded view of Sequim Bay’s “ground floor” on June 6, the lowest tide of the year to date.
According to King5, the tide was 3.4 feet below normal at 11:41 a.m.
Tom Burns sat in a zero gravity recliner with a magazine, a radio and a pair of binoculars. In the intertidal zone, Deb Wayno sat in a beach chair enjoying a book as her husband Tom tanned next to her.
Local group Olympic Peninsula Paddlers were tested by the low tide, having to carry their boats over hundreds of feet of rocky sand before loading and unloading for their training. They ran balance bracing drills in the water as a part of their training schedule.
Club president Ed Urbanski has only been involved for a few years but says that he’s fully bought in to the activity, noting that the area is somewhat ideal for kayaking. (The club meets and does trainings in different locations around the Olympic Peninsula. Get more information and contact details at olympicpeninsulapaddlers.com).
