A 67-year-old man was arrested Monday night after a short pursuit by Washington State Patrol troopers.

Trooper Krista Hedstrom said Michael A. Gilmore, whose last known address was in Sequim, was pulled over around 11:37 p.m. near the 7 Cedars Casino for driving with his high-beams on.

Trooper Russ Sanders noticed Gilmore was showing signs of impairment and suspected he was intoxicated, she said.

When Trooper Grant Clark arrived as back-up, Gilmore shifted his car into drive and sped off toward Sequim with the troopers in pursuit, Hedstrom said.

After nearly crashing into a guardrail, Gilmore slowed his driving speed and the troopers were able to bring his car to a stop using a forced rotational technique, she said. No one was injured during the one-minute pursuit.

Gilmore was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and felony eluding and booked in the Clallam County Jail.
