Christmas is coming early — again.

Clallam County Fire District 3 is asking for donations from Sequim residents to help hungry families and needy youths with Santa’s Toy and Food Fire Brigade, set for Dec. 7-10.

From about 5:30-9 p.m. those evenings, fire department personnel will be collecting nonperishable food items and new toys from area residents. Toys collected go to Sequim Community Aid while food collected goes to the Sequim Food Bank.

Firefighter/paramedic Len Horst, who is organizing the third-annual brigade, said personnel won’t be knocking on doors and that people don’t need to donate to get a candy cane.

Firefighters also will be handing out candy canes and displaying fire engine lights.

On Tuesday, Dec. 7, the fire brigade will be collecting items on the Sequim downtown streets on the west side of Sequim Avenue, and on Wednesday, Dec. 8, they’ll collect items on the east side of Sequim Avenue.

On Thursday, Dec. 9, firefighters will be collecting items along Dryke Road and in the north and south Solmar areas. On Friday, Dec. 10, they’ll collect items from residents in Emerald Highlands and other nearby neighborhoods.
