The annual Nature Mart, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20-21, will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days at the Dungeness River Audubon Center in Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road in Sequim.
Proceeds from Nature Mart and the raffle help support the center’s education programs.
Only 100 raffle tickets will be sold for a custom-knit sweater, made from the softest super-wash Merino wool. The lucky winner may choose the color and size from infant to children’s size 8 and the sweater will be ready before Christmas. Raffle tickets are $10 each. Raffle tickets are on sale at the River Center. The winning ticket will be drawn at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the close of Nature Mart. The winner does not need to be present.
The one-of-a-kind gifts and ornaments with nature themes range from cornhusk dolls and decorative items, scarves and purses made from antique silk, to pet toys and treats. The River Center gift shop also is stocked with many gift items including patches and pins commemorating the 100th anniversary of the historical Railroad Bridge.
The Nature Mart bake sale will feature sweets and savories including homemade pies, cakes, cookies, breads, scones and other treats. Visitors can enjoy a free cup of hot cider while they’re shopping. In the courtyard, shoppers will have the opportunity to buy a variety of wreaths and table arrangements or make their own wreath for a modest fee. All materials are provided and visitors can create wreaths under the guidance of experts.
Even some the River Center’s “animals,” including the big brown bear, take part in Nature Mart. Bring your camera or phone and the “animal keepers” gladly will take festive photos of you with the animals and other props, on request. Though the photo service is free, donations always are welcome.
