Glover honored

Marguerite Glover, of Peter Black Real Estate, was honored as Realtor of the Year at a Sequim real estate agents’ holiday gathering Dec. 11 at 7 Cedars Casino.

Sumpter attains license

Ed Sumpter, owner of Blue Sky Real Estate, 190 Priest Road, Sequim, attained a managing broker’s license from the Washington State Department of Real Estate.Sumpter is now the designated broker at the company.

Holiday Inn partners with DelaBarre

Bret Wirta, CEO of Wirta Hospitality Worldwide and owner of Sequim Holiday Inn Express and Conference Center and Quality Inn, announced a partnership with Sharon DelaBarre, owner of DelaBarre & Associates, Inc.

DelaBarre will provide client support for planning a conference or exhibit at the Holiday Inn Express. DelaBarre Associates was founded in 1974 and specializes in providing basic management consulting and support in servicing conferences and exhibition programs for the public and private sectors. Its clients include federal, state and local governmental agencies, industry and nonprofit organizations.

Business tax amnesty

Taxpayers with overdue state taxes may be eligible to pay them without penalties or interest under a new amnesty program.

The first amnesty authorized by the Washington State Legislature during its one-day special session Dec. 11 applies to state business and occupation and public utility taxes and state and local sales and use taxes. The program is open to both registered and unregistered businesses.

Qualifying taxpayers can apply for the program from Feb. 1-April 18 and must pay back taxes by April 30. The Department of Revenue expects to have the application procedures ready by mid-January.

Johnson selected Realtor of the year     

Kelly Johnson from Windermere Real Estate Port Angeles, 711 E. Front St., Port Angeles, was selected as Port Angeles Association of Realtors’ Realtor of the Year for 2010.  

Secretary of the association, she is the education chair and has volunteered with Relay for Life, the Olympic Marathon, Pink Up and the First Responder’s Day, honoring public safety professionals.

Malane to direct Black Ball marketing

Ryan Malane has been appointed director of marketing with Black Ball Ferry Line, which operates the M.V. Coho vehicle and passenger ferry year-round between Port Angeles and Victoria, British Columbia.

Malane has spent the past 15 years in senior marketing roles with some of the Pacific Northwest’s leading companies in the maritime, tourism, health care and advertising sectors. Malane will be based in Port Angeles and divide his time between Black Ball Ferry Line’s operations there and its marketing office in Victoria.
