Olympic Medical Center welcomes Susan Clements, licensed clinical social worker, who joins Olympic Medical Cancer Center as the new patient navigator.
As patient navigator, Clements serves as an advocate for cancer patients throughout their medical treatment.
"Susan is coming from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where she has worked as a social worker for more than eight years," said Tara Lock, director of Olympic Medical Cancer Center. "We are pleased to have someone with her experience in this position and our patients will benefit from her knowledge."
Prior to her position at Harborview, Clements worked with Good Samaritan Community Services in Puget Sound for 14 years. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work.
"I have worked with
adults and children who were hospitalized with traumatic or life changing illnesses and I have met with families when crisis occurs," Clements said of her experience.
"I value the opportunity to help patients and their families to cope and enhance each patient’s care by providing access to all available services and resources. Patient-centered care and satisfaction is my goal."
The patient navigator works closely with cancer patients and their families to determine what programs are available that can help ease the financial and emotional burdens that come with a cancer diagnosis.
