Two Habitat homes available

Published 3:09 pm Wednesday, March 19, 2014

The local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity invites qualified low-income families living in substandard housing to apply for two newly renovated Habitat homes in Clallam County.

Both houses have three bedrooms and two baths. The Sequim home was built in 2005 and the Port Angeles home in 2007.

Habitat holds community information meetings from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at First Christian Church, 2606 S. Race St., Port Angeles, and from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. Representatives explain how to qualify and provide a question-and-answer session.

Habitat for Humanity provides safe, simple, affordable housing to those who might not qualify for a conventional mortgage.

The organization offers 0-percent interest loans to qualifying applicants. Each candidate family must meet certain criteria including income requirements and the ability to pay for the home over time, as well as willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity in home building, commonly called "sweat equity."

If unable to attend the meetings, call 681-6780 for more information.
