Jamestown S’Klallam Natural Resources director Scott Chitwood was appointed Friday, Feb. 26, to the seven-member Olympic Peninsula Resource Advisory Committee.

The federal committee reviews proposed land-management projects and recommends funding that totals as much as $6.3 million, as required by the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2008.

It has 15 members representing interests including recreation, industry and environment.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack appointed members based on their interests, experience and ability to work collaboratively.

"We appreciate everyone’s interest and wish to thank all who submitted applications to serve on this valuable committee," said Olympic National Forest Supervisor Dale Hom.

"We anticipate a very busy season for the Olympic Peninsula RAC and are eager to begin working with the committee."

No date has been set for RAC to meet.
