The Sequim Valley Lions Club hosts its fourth annual benefit poker run July 30. Anyone can sign up to participate at 10 a.m. Saturday at The Islander Pizza and Pasta Shack, 380 E. Washington St.
"If they can ride it or drive it, they’re welcome to come," Lions president Ken Cram said.
Included is a hamburger lunch, a free T-shirt and the opportunity to win a prize.
There also will be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. The community-supported event has more than 20 local sponsors.
The poker run raises money to donate to community projects, such as the $5,000 given by the club for the youth soccer fields now under construction by Carrie Blake Park, he said.
Last year about 220 people participated in the event, and if the weather cooperates, Cram said, he hopes for more this year.
The Islander will be open at 6 a.m. for breakfast if participants wish to get a good meal in before the poker run.
The following Saturday, the Lions Club will host a crab and oyster feed in the parking lot behind The Islander for $20 a ticket.
