These youngsters take plenty of pride in their hometown festival.

Students in Sequim elementary grades sold hundreds of 119th Sequim Irrigation Festival buttons in recent weeks, with top seller Jessica German of Helen Haller Elementary topping the list at 240 buttons and Aryona Zappey taking top honors at Greywolf with 51 buttons, edging out second place by a single button. German won the festival’s button design contest.

“They did a fabulous job selling this year,” said Shawnna Rigg, festival products director.

Greywolf teacher Pat Quinet had 22 entries in the contest this year to lead her school while Tami Wall led Halen Haller with 21 entries.

Buttons are still available at the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce, 1192 E. Washington St., and at several banks across Sequim.

RE/MAX Fifth Avenue and agent Liz Parks sponsored contest prizes.
