Cargo ship loses steering near Port Angeles

The state Department of Ecology and the U.S. Coast Guard are monitoring the Grand Quest cargo ship about six miles offshore of Port Angeles.

 

Ecology received a report from the Washington Emergency Management Division that the Grand Quest lost steering just after 12:15 a.m. today, July 3.

 

Ecology and the U.S. Coast Guard are monitoring the situation as a tug boat tows the cargo ship to anchor in Port Angeles.

 

According to Ecology officials, here is no threat to human health and safety or the environment.
