Apply for a Habitat home

Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County is now selecting a homebuyer(s) for one single-family home in its Maloney Heights subdivision located on Maloney Court in Port Angeles.

Attend one or two orientation sessions to learn about its program and receive an application:

• Wednesday, April 6, at 7 p.m. — First Federal Business Center, corner of First and Oak streets, downtown Port Angeles.

• Saturday, April 9, at 11 a.m. — Elwha Klallam Heritage Center,  401 E. First St. in Port Angeles.

Eligibility

Eligibility for Habitat for Humanity homeownership includes, but is not limited to:

• A monthly household gross income of between $1,600-$1,800, depending on family size

• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency

• Currently living situation is either unsafe, unhealthy or overcrowded

• Currently spending greater than 30 percent of gross household income on rent

• Willing and able to accept a no- or low-interest loan and repay the cost of the home

• Willing to contribute 250-500 hours of volunteer work directly with Habitat

• Applicants must pre-qualify for a USDA 502 loan during the Habitat application process.

Pick up packets

No application packets will be available prior to April 6.

After April 6, application packets may be obtained by attending one of the meetings or by picking up an application the Habitat for Humanity office and Store at 728 E. Front St., Port Angeles, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.

All completed applications and back-up information is due to Habitat’s Port Angeles office by close of business on Tuesday, April 26.
