Updated 8/31/10 – Fire District 3 personnel responded to a half-acre brush fire at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at 332 Carriage Drive, on Bell Hill.
Winds blew the fire onto a vacant lot and onto the lawn of a neighbor.
Fire officials attribute the brush fire to an illegal residential burn. No one was injured.
The neighbor’s lawn that the fire spread to was cut short. That and the wind dying down helped quell the flames, fire officials said.
Nine fire units, including two brush trucks and two fire engines, cleared the fire after less than an hour.
