Volunteers for the Sequim Veterans of Foreign War Post 4760 installed a new flagpole on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Post officials said they wanted a new flagpole because they couldn’t move the flag on top of their building to half-mast.
“We wanted this for a long time because it’s a message all by itself to have the flag displayed,” said Terry Corbett, quartermaster.
“This new pole lets us honor those special days.”
Commander Roger Padie said the new flagpole would be lit at night.
The flagpole will be completed before a special Veterans Day ceremony at
11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 11.
SEQUIM VFW POST 4760 IS AT 169 E. WASHINGTON ST., SEQUIM.
