The July donation of $3053.58 for Clallam Mosaic marked a record amount Jig and Lure Fish Company restaurant donated. Co-owner Stephen Fofanoff cites the generosity of its customers for making this program possible.
“Our customers have been so generous to help make these donations possible. We have been so fortunate to have amazing customers who care about helping the Port Angeles community as much as we do.”
Jig and Lure Fish Company restaurant for the past three and a half months has donated 100 percent of tips to nonprofits based in, and serving, Clallam County. The program launched in April.
Fofanoff said, “Each month, our employees choose which organization the tips will be donated to. The staff and our customers share in the excitement of seeing how much we can raise to help these non-profits.”
Grant funding for nonprofits is highly variable from year to year. Clallam Mosaic relies on grant dollars for 22-40 percent of its budget.
Executive Director Priya Jayadev shares just how critical these donations are. “In 2016, the loss of a critical grant represents a $15,000 decrease in income from Foundation sources. Thus, the support of the community through donations such as the $3,053 award from Jig & Lure Fish Company restaurant are critical to the continued success of Clallam Mosaic. The money donated by the restaurant goes directly into supporting the delivery of day programs to individuals with developmental disabilities — paying for instructor salaries and curriculum materials.”
