Fun with science at library’s Saturday series

The Second Saturday Science series at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., continues at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9.

Led by former chemist and science educator Anne Olson, the series — recommended for ages 7-12 — creates fun, hands-on opportunities for children to explore scientific concepts.

On Jan. 9, attendees are invited to become young scientists, artists and detectives during an exploration of chromatography.

Solve a mystery and create a work of art with pens, rubbing alcohol, eye droppers and more.

“Density” is the topic of the March 12 session, exploring why airplanes fly and boats float, with ample opportunities provided for hands-on practice and discovery.

All classes in the series are free but with attendance limited to 20 participants, preregistration is required.
