City opens glass exhibit in January; artists will present demonstrations

The Sequim City Arts Advisory Commission opens the “Fused, Fired, and Stained … All Things Glass” art exhibit and artist reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

The exhibit includes 17 pieces of art from seven different artists; all of the artwork is made from or includes glass. The exhibiting artists are Marilyn Brock, Patty Dinius; Cindy Fager, Millie Harrell, Lizbeth Harper, Sandy Placek and Susan Shaw.

The exhibit will be on display until March 31.

The opening event will include glass demonstrations from three local glass artists:

5 p.m. — Millie Harrell of Classy Creations is a Sequim native who has worked in glass for 29 years and has been teaching stained glass for 24 years. She will be providing an informal class on her stained glass process.

5:30 p.m. — Lizbeth Harper, a member of the Blue Whole Gallery, will show the four stages a piece of glass goes through from raw glass to the finished piece.

6 p.m. — Joanna Hays of Jojo Bead Art will share the process she uses to create her glass beads.
