Once Wolves and Redhawks and Roughriders, these Vikings helped their newest school to strong finishes at Western Washington University’s conference final.
Western Washington senior Jasmine McMullin — a 2013 Sequim High graduate — won the triple jump (39-6.5) and placed third in the long jump (17-11.75) at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference track and field outdoor championships last weekend in Monmouth, Ore., to lead a pack of local athletes.
2015 Sequim High graduate Alex Barry took top honors in the javelin with a 198-foot, 11.75-inch throw.
Brittany Grant, a Port Townsend High grad, won the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:43) and Peter Butler of Port Angeles took seventh in men’s 10,000 meter race (31:59).
Sequim High 2016 graduate Waverly Shreffler took sixth in her preliminary heat of the 800-meter race (2:25) but missed out on the finals.
Western’s men took second overall, just two points back of Alaska-Anchorage, while Western’s women placed fifth in the 10-team meet.
