New deputy joins Clallam force

Amy Bundy is the newest field deputy at the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Bill Benedict swore in Bundy on Aug. 21. Her appointment replaces a position vacated by the retirement of a senior deputy on July 1 of this year.

Bundy is a former Blaine Police officer who moved to Clallam County in 2012 to be closer to family.

Besides patrol duties, she comes to the Sheriff’s Office with experience in child interviews and child crime investigations, sex offender cases and is bilingual.

She also has experience as a corrections officer with Whatcom County and was a corrections officer for Juvenile Corrections in Clallam County before she was hired as a deputy.

Bundy is a 2009 graduate of the Washington State Basic Police Academy, the same academy newly hired deputies are required to attend. She also has a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University.

Bundy ultimately will be assigned to the patrol section in the Sequim-Port Angeles.

Until then, she will start with a field training program, where she will ride with experienced Clallam County deputies to learn the area, policies and procedures and more, Sheriff’s Offiice officials said.
