Clallam County shoreline landowners are invited to attend a free coastal process and erosion management workshop on Saturday, May 5.
Registration is required. To register, visit www.surveymonkey.com; call the Northwest Straits Foundation at 360-733-1725; or email Dana Oster oster@nwstraitsfoundation.org.
The workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Guy Cole Event Center at 202 N. Blake Ave.
A presentation by coastal processes expert Andrea MacLennan will be featured.
The two-hour classroom presentation will cover topics such as how to manage beach and bluff erosion, securing slope stability and habitat with native plants, as well as alternatives to hard shoreline armoring. Following the presentation, a beach walk-field trip to Port Williams will be held.
Event organizers request participants to bring appropriate clothing and shoes.
Attendees will also receive information about free site visits by a private, shoreline management professional to learn how to protect property.
For those unable to attend the event, a limited number of free site visits by coastal erosion specialists will be available to qualifying landowners. To schedule a visit, call the foundation or email Oster.
Respective management recommendations for shoreline property owners will be provided during the visit.
