The City of Sequim is looking for some holiday-inspired art from youths in grade four (or 9 years of age) living in the Sequim School District.

The city is seeking ornament decorations for its the Holiday Tree, to be on display in the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., from Dec. 7 to January 2019.

The theme for all student-created ornaments is “Nature’s Creatures: Real or Mythical.” Any materials are acceptable for the ornaments as long as they are dry; no live entries, candles, batteries or flammable materials are allowed.

Ornaments can be no smaller than 2”-by-2”-by-2” and no larger than 6”-by-6”-by-6”. There are no color restrictions.

All ornaments must be presented with a loop (wire, ribbon or cord) for attachment of a hanging hook.

Deliver ornaments to Sequim Civic Center between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26; if needed, arrangements for an alternative delivery day or time can be arranged.

The city’s Tree Lighting and Official Reception for all student participants and their parents, held in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk, is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.

All students will receive a commemorative card as a “thank you” for their participation when their ornaments are returned in January.

The fourth annual Holiday Tree decorating event is sponsored by the Sequim City Arts Advisory Commission.
