Tsunami, marine debris topic of Monday presentation

Nir Barnea, West Coast Regional Director for NOAA’s Marine Debris Program, is the scheduled speaker at the regular monthly meeting of the Clallam County Marine Resource Committee, set for 5:45 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, at the commissioners’ meeting room at the Clallam County Courthouse.

Barnea will discuss marine debris associated with the March 2011 tsunami in Japan. He will focus on early post-tsunami observations, NOAA’s debris modeling efforts and more recent observations of debris made in the northeast Pacific Ocean.
