Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild’s thrift shop reopens July 9

For decades, the nonprofit running the thrift shop at the 200 block of West Bell Street generated funds that helped support the daily medical needs of Sequim and Port Angeles residents. This March, a public health crisis forced its closure.

The Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild looks to reopen its thrift store this week, looking to once again generate dollars to bolster medically-related efforts by the Sequim Fire Department, scholarships for Peninsula College Nursing Program students, the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic and others.

The thrift shop at 204 W. Bell St. will have new store hours opening 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each Thursday and Friday, as well as the first and third Saturdays each month.

Celebrating its 50th year, the guild has since 1970 donated more than $2.35 million to organizations in Sequim and Port Angeles. Donations have been made available to peninsula residents solely by the volunteer workers at the thrift store.

“We are anxious to safely get back to work says,” guild president Nancy McGovern said.

Staff will be following strict adherence to health and safety guidelines to protect our staff and customers, including requiring the wearing of masks, hand sanitizing and physical distancing, she said.

“We are so blessed to be able to give a helping hand, especially in this difficult time,” McGovern said.
