Sequim Police arrest two men for alleged inn burglary, theft

Two men were arrested Thursday afternoon for alleged theft and burglary at a Sequim hotel.

Sequim Police Officer Stephanie Benes said officers responded to trespassing behind businesses at 755 W. Washington St., where Tanner Comoza, 32, and Tyhler Camby, 20, both described as transients with last known addresses in Port Angeles, were asked to leave private property.

The men found looking through dumpsters at 12:08 p.m. on Sept. 24, Benes said.

At 12:44 p.m., Benes and officers Maris Larsen and Terran Johnson responded to a burglary and theft at Olympic View Inn, 830 W. Washington St.

Benes said a housekeeper reported her purse had been stolen around 10:40 a.m. in the morning. Upon looking at surveillance footage, one of the two men allegedly went into a cleaning supply room at the inn off Bracket Road and stole a purse, went around the building and took several items of value while leaving the purse.

Benes and other officers later found the men in town, Camby behind the Walgreens store at 490 W. Washington St., and Comoza in a vacant lot on Bell Street.

Most of the stolen property was recovered upon the men’s arrests at 1:40 p.m., Benes said.

Comoza faces felony charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree theft and possession of a controlled substance. He is in Clallam County Jail with no bond amount.

Camby was charged with one felony count of second-degree theft and was released from jail.
