Pasture management workshop scheduled for June 23

Clallam Conservation District is offering a free workshop on managing and improving pastures for horses and livestock, set for 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Robin Hill Farm Park in Agnew.

Conservation District planners will tour participants through the rotational grazing system at Robin Hill Farm Park used by Miniature Hereford cattle, and talk about strategies to increase the health and productivity of pastures.

Management techniques such as mowing, dragging and rotational grazing will be discussed as tools to boost the production of forage species while helping to control and prevent weed infestations.

The workshop will include identification of common forage grasses and legumes to ensure participants are growing the highest producing species for their pastures.

To register for this event, visit the Conservation District’s website at clallamcd.org/events.

Because of space limitations, pre-registration is required.
