Two free parenting classes are set to help locals bolster their knowledge and skills later this month.
Sessions for “Up Your Parenting Game: Support Yourself & Your Family” are set for 6-8:30 p.m. on two Wednesdays, Nov. 16 and Nov. 30, at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club unit, 400 W. Fir St.
Parents are encouraged to join other families in a casual atmosphere to enjoy a meal. A meal and beverages will be served at both sessions, as well as child care provided and staffed by Sequim Boys & Girls Club staffers.
Topics covered include learning how: nervous systems work; to use that knowledge to support you and your child; to set age appropriate expectations through learning about human development; and about being N.E.A.R.R. — an attentive play process you can practice to improve your relationship with your child.
Leading the classes, is Rachel Hardies, a mental health counselor at New Growth Counseling Services and a mental strength coach with Head in the Game Consulting. She has been supporting families and youth in the region since 2009.
