Drop-in option at PC

Learn what is takes to earn a degree or certificate at Peninsula College at a Welcome Wednesday session, held every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 3 p.m. virtually and at the college.

Participants can drop in to tour the campus and ask questions about programs, degrees, careers, funding, testing and more.

To participate, visitors can pre-register, join via Zoom, or drop by the Student Services Building (building D) on the Port Angeles campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. No commitment is required. Staff will be available to answer questions and explore options, organizers say.

‘Memory and Neuroscience’

The North Olympic Library System’s Intentional Aging, a monthly discussion group for adults, offers “Memory and Neuroscience” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, on Zoom.

Explore concepts presented in the book “Remember: The Science of Memory and the Art of Forgetting,” written by neuroscientist and novelist Lisa Genova. The group will discuss how memory may be impacted by meaning, emotion, sleep, stress, and context. Understanding the language of memory and how it functions may improve our ability to remember and help us feel less rattled when we forget.

All are welcome to join the discussion; it is not required to read the book in advance.

Limited print copies of the book may be borrowed by request; contact your NOLS branch and ask for the “Intentional Aging book kit” to confirm availability. Or, search for the title in the catalog at nols.org or on the Libby app.

Register at nols.org/intentional-aging or by contacting a NOLS branch, to receive Zoom login information and free resources.

For more information about library programs and services, visit nols.org, email to discover@nols.org or follow North Olympic Library System on Facebook and Instagram.
