Rayonier Foundation gives grants

The Rayonier Foundation, a nonprofit, philanthropic corporation founded in 1952, presented grants to organizations based in Sequim, Port Angeles, Forks and the West End on June 1.

United Way of Clallam County, West End Outreach, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula’s Sequim and Port Angeles clubs, the Caring Place of West Clallam County, Clallam County Historical Society, Clallam County Literacy Council, Family Planning of Clallam County, Forks Alternative School, Forks Food Bank, Healthy Families of Clallam County, Serenity House of Clallam County, Special Peoples Fishing Derby and Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics received grants.

Speakers from the organizations addressed a breakfast meeting at

the University of Washington’s Olympic Natural Resources Center in Forks.

The foundation is contributing more than $36,000 to Olympic Peninsula communities for scholarships and educational, cultural and human services programs.

Presenting the awards were Eric Fanelli, Rayonier’s director of Pacific Forest Resources, and Charles Hood, Rayonier Foundation president, who flew in from Rayonier’s operation in the Florida-Georgia region.

Rayonier staff from the company’s Forks and Hoquiam offices also attended.
