Traffic crawls after structure fire

Traffic is crawling in both directions on U.S. Highway 101 in Port Angeles following a full road closure as fire crews worked to extinguish a blaze at the New Peking restaurant near Baker Street.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the incident began around 4 a.m. and both directions of the highway were blocked for several hours. Traffic was detoured to local roads.
One eastbound lane and both westbound lanes were opened at 8:46 a.m., according to a WSDOT travel alert.
Crews from Clallam County Fire District 2 remain on scene, where the building reportedly still is smoldering.
