Writers Read event offered at Blue Whole

Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St., will host the Olympic Peninsula Authors (OPA) from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12. The theme will be “Odes to Spring.”

Spring has long been a source of inspiration for writers, offering a rich tapestry of themes, from the first bloom of flowers to the bittersweet passage of time. Authors will take the stage, each given five minutes to share their unique interpretation of spring in either a poem or prose.

Learn-to-Sail classe set with Yacht Club

The Sequim Bay Yacht Club is accepting registrations for its 2025 Learn-to-Sail classes.

Classes will begin on March 4 and will run for five consecutive Tuesday evenings.

After the five classroom sessions, participants will be scheduled for five on-the-water training sessions in April and May in the club’s 19-foot Flying Scot sailboats.

Classroom sessions are 7-9 p.m. in the clubroom at John Wayne Marine in Sequim. Schedules for on-the-water sessions in Sequim Bay will be scheduled according to student and instructor availability.

Coordinator John Thompson said the program assumes that students have no knowledge of sailing but have a desire to learn. It is an adult level class, but qualified teenagers may be accommodated. Classes are open to the public as well as members.

Cost is $500 per student, with a discount for Sequim Bay Yacht Club members. Satisfactory completion of the course makes club members eligible to use the Flying Scots.
