Got Heart? event set for March 24

The public is invited to an open house dubbed “Got Heart?” at Sequim High School next week that aims at giving participants a new appreciation for heart health.

 

The event is from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, at the school, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

 

The goal is to provide families with valuable information about heart health along with ideas and resources.

 

The event includes door prizes and free drawings throughout the evening.

 

Preregister to be part of a special drawing for an iPod Nano (must be present to win, limit one registration per household).

 

Activities include a basic health risk assessment from staff at Olympic Medical Center; a chat with a local nutritionists about foods; meeting with physical therapists to identify appropriate activities; and how to find appropriate footwear.

 

Health fair projects created by fifth-graders from Helen Haller Elementary will be on display.

 

Sponsors of this event are Olympic Medical Center, Nutrition Trails, Peninsula Children’s Clinic, Sequim School District, Sequim Gym, La Leche League of Sequim/Port Angeles, Clallam County Fire District 3 and WEA Olympic Council.
