UPDATE: First Street in downtown Port Angeles is now open after law enforcement closed the road from Valley Street to Laurel Street for nearly 40 minutes while investigating a bomb threat.
No further information was immediately available.
Earlier story:
Part of downtown Port Angeles has been blocked off as law enforcement officers investigate a bomb threat at the Federal Building at First Street and Oak Street.
A man contacted deputies at the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office and told them, either orally or through a letter, that he put a bomb at the building, Port Angeles Police Chief Terry Gallagher told KONP Radio.
Officers are investigating the scene and sweeping the structure to determine if the threat is credible, he said.
The man who made the threat is being questioned by detectives, he said.
Traffic on First Street has been rerouted at Valley Street.
