Bill’s Plumbing hosts retirement party Dec. 29

Bill’s Plumbing, founded in 1959 by Bill and Ann Kimler, has served Sequim and Clallam County for 67 years.

Bill, remembered as the town’s very first plumber, built the business alongside Ann, who managed operations, rentals, and raised their three children — Bill Jr., Joanna, and Judy.

Following Ann’s retirement in 1991, Judy stepped up to manage alongside her father. After his death in 1995, Judy became the driving force behind Bill’s Plumbing & Sanikan.

Staff said she streamlined operations, focusing on retail plumbing and Sanikan rentals, and built a reputation for exceptional customer service and being trustworthy.

The community is invited to celebrate Judy’s retirement and welcome new owners KC Eaton and son Hayden at an open house from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29 at Bill’s Plumbing & Sanikan, 425 S. Third Ave., Sequim.

From its beginnings on Cedar Street to its current home on South Third Avenue, the company grew to handle everything from commercial plumbing and septic systems to the portable toilet rentals affectionately known as “Ann’s Cans.”

For more than three decades, Judy has been more than a business owner — she has been a steward of her family’s legacy and a pillar of the community, staff said.

Her commitment to treating every customer with respect and care has defined the company’s culture and ensured its success. Milestones such as the 50th and 60th anniversaries were celebrated not just as business achievements, but as community celebrations of Judy’s dedication.

Now, after years of hard work and unwavering dedication, Judy has made the heartfelt decision to retire. She leaves behind a thriving business that reflects her values of service, integrity, and community.

Eaton, a lifelong Sequim resident, is honored to continue the Kimler tradition and said he plans to maintain the same employees, hours, and practices while bringing fresh ideas to the shop.

Just as Bill and Ann built the business with their children, KC is keeping it family-owned by involving his son, Hayden, who will play a key role in the company’s future.

Together, they are committed to preserving the “hometown plumbing store” atmosphere — where questions are welcomed, do-it-yourselfers are supported, and everyone leaves feeling helped, they said.

The beloved tagline, “Giving you a place to go since 1959,” will remain at the heart of the business, Eaton said.
