What’s New at the Market: Unique, handmade jewelry

At the Sequim Farmers Market you will discover an impressive variety of handmade jewelry.

There is something for everyone given the diversity of vendors, each with their own selection of material, style, and method. Every quality artisan adornment is created with the greatest attention to detail and each is uniquely individual with a personal touch.

Suzy Killins at Rockin’ Rocks creates her jewelry entirely by hand: she digs, washes, slices, trips, shapes, grinds and polishes dazzling stones which she then sets into sterling silver jewelry.

At Lisa’s Designs, you will find local bead weaver Lisa DeGon with her artfully inspired and intricately crafted jewelry made with seed beads and Swarovski crystal. Her creations range from casual to fancy, with elaborate patterns and arrangements in her beaded necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings.

CR Wearables features sea glass jewelry by Connie Rodibaugh. Connie walks to local beaches to collect the sea glass that she works with. She incorporates the sea glass into her jewelry with fine silver which does not tarnish, or with the warm color of copper metal. She is always willing to work with a customer’s personal collection of sea glass for a custom piece and also offers repairs.

Chainmaille creations at DEKA Uniquities are made with small metal rings, each of which is individually connected to others to create elaborate woven patterns. Artisan Karl Ayres can often be found at work on his next creation in his booth, practicing a craft that dates back to the fourth century BC. The jewelry he offers includes a wide assortment of bracelets and anklets for men and women, and children too!

You will be drawn in to take a closer look at the beautifully detailed tiny paintings on display at Stonewear Art. Gina Witz collects stones along the shores of the Strait of Juan De Fuca and decorates them under a magnifying glass with intricate paintings of flowers, leaves, birds and just about anything that inspires her. Her painted stone pendants are tastefully strung on a necklace to display your uniquely designed wearable art.

Youth vendor Ruby Romano creates beaded and woven wraps, necklaces and bracelets, as well as functional jewelry such as beaded strands for reading glasses. Ruby’s tasteful patterns are thoughtfully designed, and include a line of beaded jewelry for children, inspired by her younger sister.

At Madrona Ridge Pottery, alongside her selection of plates, vases and wall plaques you will find that artist Michel McCarter also creates earrings and pendants out of clay. Her work features designs that reflect both Pacific Northwest and Asian influences, with a soothing style that is uniquely her own.

The Sequim Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. every Saturday through the end of October. This is a rain or shine event, and we welcome you to join us for weekly enjoyment of Clallam County’s best selection of local food and beverages, handmade artisan gifts and services, music, community and fun!
