Several churches and faith communities offer different events and services this week and next.

End of life talks at DVLC

“You Can’t Take It With You” is the title of a continuing adult education program at Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church. The four weekly seminars on Wednesdays beginning, Oct. 29 from 6:45-8 p.m. cover issues including asset management, health care, financial legacies and estate disbursement.

Church plans fall festival

Dungeness Community Church is having its annual Fall Festival from noon-2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26. This is a free event with games, candy, food and music. Costumes are encouraged. Food will be potluck style and chili (from a chili cook-off) and pie (from a pie baking competition). Dungeness Community Church is at 45 Eberle Lane, Sequim.

Taize services restart

All are welcome to the ecumenical Taize service at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave.

The program includes a meditative, candle-lit atmosphere including singing simple repetitive songs. One may sit peacefully during the hour long service or join in the chorus. Taize will continue to be held the fourth Monday of each month.

Fall Mission talks

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church parish, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim, will be hosting its Fall mission “Work Out Your Salvation” Monday-Thursday, Oct. 27-30. The mission talks will follow the morning Mass at 8:30 a.m. and will be repeated at 7 p.m. Fr. Wade Menezes CPM (Fathers of Mercy) will lead the mission.

Topics each day are as follows: “Be Faithful to Daily Duty,” “Be Other Centered,” “Understand the Reality of Vice and Virtue” and “Practice and Live the Sacraments.” Confessions will follow each session and a free will offering will be taken on Thursday.

Good News Clubs starting at local schools

 

Child Evangelism Fellowship® will begin weekly Good News Clubs® this month at Dry Creek Elementary,

Jefferson Elementary and Roosevelt Elementary schools in Port Angeles and Greywolf Elementary School in Carlsborg. All children who attend must have a signed parent/guardian registration form which can be obtained from the school office or on its website at www.cefop.us.

 

The Good News Clubs® are for boys and girls ages 5-12 who gather with their friends to sing songs, play games that help them memorize a Bible verse and hear a visualized Bible story. Contact cefop@cefofwa.com or 683-9176 for more information.
