This year’s awards for the Sequim Irrigation Festival’s royalty float are on display at the Sequim-Dungeness Chamber of Commerce.

Sequim Irrigation Festival’s steampunk-inspired float designed by Guy Horton impressed parade judges across the region this season.

Organizers report that of the 12 parades royalty and volunteers attended with the float, eight were judged and the festival won six first place awards, and two second place awards.

One of the awards included the Emerald City First Class Award at the Seafair Torchlight Parade on July 26 in Seattle where they were featured on KIRO TV.

The festival also won the Grand Sweepstakes Award at the Port Townsend Rhododendron Festival on May 17, and the Mason County Forest Festival on May 31.

“The Sequim Irrigation Festival board, membership, and Royalty Ambassadors are proud to have brought so much attention to Sequim-Dungeness Valley and Clallam County from around the state,” said Irrigation Festival Director Michelle Rhodes.

“The support from our community is so strong, that we are honored to do our part in helping to generate visitors to support our local businesses.”

All of the festival’s awards are on display at the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce office, 1192 E. Washington St.

Festival organizers also seek a creative, handy person with a heart for community, and some experience in construction/building to help continue the legacy of the float. If interested, email info@irrigationfestival.com.
