Port Angeles resident Dona Cloud of Port Angeles on March 11 received a Women in American History award from Michael Trebert Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Cloud has been a volunteer at the North Olympic History Center (NOHC) — formerly Clallam County Historical Society — for more than 45 years, and continues to volunteer two days a week.
DAR chapters are encouraged to honor notable women from their region or state who have made a difference in their community. Cloud’s volunteer efforts have included preserving and cataloging historical records and items, helping visitors locate the historic records they seek, planning and carrying out fundraising for NOHC over the years, and preparing displays.
Michael Trebert Chapter historian Sandy Frykholm lauded Cloud’s efforts at the group’s noon meeting on Monday, and presented her with a certificate and medal. Recognition of the award includes a listing on the national DAR website, DAR.org, in a database of Women in American History honorees.
For more information, call Frykholm at 360-461-6897 or DAR Regent Judy Tordini at 360-460-2346.
