Milestone: Sequim Noon Rotary’s annual feed a ‘smash’
Published 1:30 am Wednesday, September 6, 2023
Sequim Noon Rotarians were busy on Aug. 12, hosting a new food venue in support of Security Services Northwest and Fort Discovery’s Unity of Effort event celebrating all first responders.
The Rotary feed was held in lieu of the club’s successful — but labor intensive, members note — 50-plus-year run of their alder-fired Salmon Bake.
The Rotary Club’s Smash Burger food booth was busy from 11 a.m. until the end of their day at 5 p.m., with more than 300 meals and beverages served to an appreciative audience of first responders and community members. The event included fire engines, aid cars, tanks, helicopters and more, all available to explore and visit with their crews, as well as three live bands and vendors. Youngsters got to enjoy a bouncy house.
Funds raised through this event will allow the Sequim Noon Rotary Club to support the youth, as well as the general population, of our community. Most recently, the club donated an adaptive bike to Camp Beausite Northwest for use with their special needs children and adults.
