Milestone: Willey gets OMC leadership award

Wendy Willey, Olympic Medical Center administrative director of laboratory services, recently received a leadership award from OMC Chief Medical Officer Scott Kennedy.

Willey joined OMC in 2017 as manager of lab services before becoming director in 2019.

According to Kennedy, “Wendy leads her department exceptionally well and is highly dedicated to working together with other departments to optimize processes and improve service to our patients.”

Introducing daily huddles in her department, Willey improved communication between staff, across shifts and across the multiple service locations, OMC staff said. She also has successfully recruited to strengthen lab leadership and Olympic Medical Center’s microbiology services.

“Wendy worked to provide North Olympic Healthcare Network and Jamestown Family Medicine with highly responsive laboratory service, which has strengthened services across local systems,” Kennedy added.

In addition, Willey provides valuable lab leadership for meeting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ extensive reporting requirements, helped establish a new laboratory digital policy library for Olympic Medical Center, and serves as a College of American Pathologists inspector visiting other laboratories.
