Milestoner: School retirees distribute grants to Sequim, Port Angeles schools

The Clallam County School Retirees’ Association (CCSRA) and the Isabel Whitfield/Naddy Teacher/Classroom Mini-Grants, have distributed several education-based grants have been awarded for the 2021-2022 school year, including a $500 grant to Helen Haller Elementary School teacher Robin Forrest’s Published Book-Storyjumper project.

Other grants went to eight Port Angeles educators — two to Stevens Middle School’s Dan Lieberman (audio and printing equipment, $960, and native art curtains, $500) and one to Stevens’ Hannah Reed for band equipment ($500), two to Dry Creek Elementary School’s Lambert Grimes (3-D printer, $542.90, and 3-D printer supplies, $422.77) and one to Dry Creek’s Patricia Donovan Hopkins (Having Fun Catching Up, $500), one to Jefferson Elementary School’s Raena Young (project Get Outside!, $500), and one to Port Angeles High School’s Crystal Bennett (The Magic of Reading, $500) — and a grant to Crescent School District’s Nathan Shields (stone carving, $500).

Total CCSRA Isabel Whitfield/Eleanor & Donald Naddy Grants for the 2021-2022 school year is $5,425.67.

“We are confident that Isabel Whitfield & Naddy family would be amazed at what our current teachers/students are accomplishing with our ever-changing world,” CCSRA representatives said in a press release.

“Clallam County School Retirees’ Association continues to support our retirees and our current teachers/staff as we enhance our community with teaching, serving, and educating those around us. Continue the great work in teaching our youth as they look forward to tomorrow.”
