Sequim resident’s ‘The Man in the Green Truck’ set for PA stage

The Port Angeles Community Players (PACP) have announced their upcoming production of “The Man in the Green Truck,” by Sequim resident and noted storyteller John Bertholl. At the request of Bertholl, PACP will donate 33% of all ticket sales to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.

Performances will take place on the PACP Playhouse main stage at 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd. at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 21 and during 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday March 23.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. Tickets are available online at pacommunityplayers.org or at the box office 30 minutes before each performance.

The play is based on Bertholl’s own life experience, moving from Alaska to Washington in his green truck to help care for his aging and ailing parents. His father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and his mom hides her congestive heart disease. A gifted storyteller, Bertholl navigates the emotionally charged landscape with good humor and bits of poetry. Funny incidents in the play mitigate the pain of losing loved ones.

Over the past 18 months PACP director Barbara Jo Maier has been working closely with Bertholl, fine-tuning his script, to prepare for its premiere production.

The cast of six consists of Rick Mischke, Rebecca Gilbert, Mary Kaye O’Brien, Rich Hendricksen, Susan Bjork, and Steve Henrickson. They will present the story in a readers theater format with additional multimedia components.
