Year’s first Work to Learn party set for Saturday

The Sequim Botanical Garden Society invites interested gardeners to the Sequim Botanical Garden at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, for the group’s first “Work to Learn” Party of 2022. It is the time to learn “what about weeds” and how to manage them.

Two group volunteers, Maryann Ballard and Mary Crook, who both have extensive gardening experience, will have samples of weeds that grow in the Botanical Garden. Attendees can bring samples of weeds or plants they suspect are weeds.

If the weather is fair, attendees are encouraged to stay to put that new knowledge to use and pull weeds from the gardens; bring gardening gloves and weeding tools to help out.

If the weather is poor, the group will meet in the building where the park’s bathrooms are located.

The society is a volunteer partner with the City of Sequim and a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, providing educational information and a visual demonstration of what can be done in home gardening with research-based horticultural practices.
