Attorney volunteers to host local legal aid clinic in February

Local attorneys are offering free legal aid as a virtual clinic in February, focusing on controlled substance convictions, legal financial obligation convictions and civil law matters such as family, landlord-tenant and estate planning issues.

Clallam-Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers host the legal aid clinic on Saturday, Feb. 12, either on Zoom or by phone.

Clients must pre-register for this event by calling 360-504-2422 or by emailing to probonomary@gmail.com; those interested are asked to register no later than Friday, Feb. 4.

Legal aid clinics are geared to help those who are financially unable to otherwise access a lawyer. Attorney volunteers will be available to answer legal questions, direct people to local services that might be able to assist them and to explain the legal process to them.

Once registered, additional directions for the event will be provided. Attendees are also encouraged to have relevant legal documents with them during consultation(s).

In partnership with the Clallam Public Defender’s Office, assisting attorneys will offer consultations for people impacted by the Blake Decision regarding possession of controlled substance convictions. They will assist individuals with applying for relief from legal financial obligations for Clallam County criminal convictions of all types, as well as civil law matters.
