Best of band, choir head to state

More than 30 members of Sequim High School’s bands and choirs are heading to the Washington State Solo and Ensemble contest April 23-24 in Ellensburg.

More than 30 members of Sequim High School’s bands and

choirs are heading to the Washington State Solo and Ensemble contest April

23-24 in Ellensburg. Sequim students will compete against 21 other regional

districts’ best musicians.

Students qualified for the state competition after being

judged at the Feb. 20 regional competition in Port Angeles.

The ensemble contest includes small and large groups in

seven categories: woodwinds, brass, percussion, strings, women’s vocal, men’s

vocal and mixed vocal.

There are 29 solo categories: seven woodwind categories,

five brass, four percussion, four strings, six vocal, piano, guitar and harp.

State qualifiers are pictured above with alternates below:
