Civic Center open house set for May 1

The City of Sequim will host an open house at the new Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St,, on from 4-6:30 p.m. Friday, May 1.

The City of Sequim will host an open house at the new Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St,, on from 4-6:30 p.m. Friday, May 1.

Members of the Sequim City Council and city staff will be on hand to answer questions as visitors tour the new facility.

Members of the community will get a tour through the new police station and the council chambers and learn where to access city services when the building opens for business on May 18.

In the lobby of the Civic Center will be the opening of the first rotating art exhibit based on the theme “What Sequim Means to Me.” The City Arts Advisory Commission had an open call for entries for the exhibit and selected 16 pieces of art for display. The artwork represents a mix of photography, paintings, textile arts, wood sculpture and ceramics. The exhibit will be on display through the end of the year.

Upcoming events:

• Monday, May 18 – The new Civic Center opens for business

• Monday, May 18, at noon — The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce will hold an official ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the facility.
