Soul Care Speaker Series
Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County’s next installment in its Soul Care Speaker Series, titled “Turning Toward Our Sorrow: How Poetry Can Help Us Explore Our Broken-Open Hearts,” will be offered online from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9.
The guest speaker will be Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, a poet, teacher, speaker, and writing facilitator.

Free sleep seminar
Psychologist Dennis Blair will give a free presentation titled “Sleep Well, Live Well” on Thursday, July 17, from 1-2:30 p.m. at The Fifth Avenue, an independent living community located at 500 W. Hendrickson Road. Blair will share 13 simple, affordable ways to improve sleep and overall wellness, yielding benefits such as falling asleep faster and staying asleep longer, reducing nighttime disruptions.
Attendees will learn why a cool room improves sleep; how vigorous exercise affects rest; why caffeine after lunch can disrupt sleep; and the value of quiet hours and evening routines.
Audience participation is encouraged. There will be light refreshments and a raffle for a sleep-enhancing gift basket.
